Brace Yourself Unbelievers, This One’s About God.

July 20th, 2009

It seems like during each church retreat, I end up making bad impressions or pissing people off. Maybe it’s because I am cranky from lack of sleep. Maybe it’s because I am just a brat at heart. Or maybe it’s because during every retreat, I am shown just how badly I am living my life. My life isn’t centered around God; it’s centered around hanging out with friends, going shopping, getting a tan, and most of all boys - or rather, just the one guy (who, incidentally, is the cause of my sleeplessness, my crankiness, and my bratty behavior).

Happy Birthday Justin :)

July 11th, 2009

Last night, I suffered through six mosquito bites and two and a half hours of  a movie I had no interest in watching again. While being at the drive-in theater (yes, they do still exist!) meant sitting in uncomfortable chairs – or ground, for some of you – and having to use disgusting bathrooms, I must say I did enjoy hanging out with everyone and celebrating the birthday of someone I’ve known since I was four. Oh, how time flies…

Here’s to you, Justin :)

Whoa Nelly!

July 8th, 2009

As early as the 4th grade, I remember my classmates having boyfriends and girlfriends. For the most part, elementary school relationships were pretty innocent. Couples would hug and hold hands. Then in junior high, these couples discovered what kissing was, and people started bragging about who they got to make out with. Pretty soon, high school started, and the making out escalated into sex. Parents no longer had to chauffeur their kids to the movie theater or to dinner. By this time, teenagers could drive themselves to their desired destination, and hormones were raging.

I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to relationships. Up until the middle of high school, my love life was pretty much nonexistent. Of course, I still had crushes on boys and daydreamed about being in love. But I was not and am still not ready to give it all up to a guy. Call me a prude, but I just believe that sex should always wait until a person is both physically and emotionally ready. Read more…

The Proposal

July 7th, 2009

Rating: ★★★★½

I was tempted to give this movie 5 stars. The Proposal is cute and funny. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock had me falling in love with both of them. This was the kind of movie you could watch more than once and not get tired of it. It’s a great movie to watch with the girls, with the family, or even a hot date.

Only a couple negatives come to mind when it comes to The Proposal. One complaint is that this movie is too much of a chick flick. It’s not something a guy can go see with his buddies. My other complaint is that there were a few parts that left me thinking, “What the heck…?” But neither complaint really bothered me at all, personally.

Overall, I found the movie to be charming, delightful, silly, enjoyable, amusing, and all the other good adjectives you can think of.
