Just Interviewed Some Designers… NBD.
Talk about a sweet first day on the job! On Thursday, I got to go to the media preview for the Design for a Living World exhibit at the Field Museum in Chicago.
The Nature Conservancy, which I now intern for, asked ten designers to create products from sustainable materials around the globe. Many of the designers actually traveled to that specific part of the world and got to work with raw material alongside the natives. TNC hopes this project will invoke people to start thinking about where their products come from, how they are made, and what impacts they have on life. There is some really neat information about the exhibit and the designers on The Nature Conservancy website as well as YouTube.
I am so excited to be part of the showing at the Field Museum. It has already been to New York and is now making its debut in Chicago. I not only got to get a sneak peak at the exhibit, I was able to meet some of the designers and interview them. It was actually the first time I have interviewed someone, so the fact that these are international designers made my experience so much cooler. They are all so talented, and I actually want a lot of these products for myself. Many of them are extremely marketable, and I think they are all so creative and interesting. I hope everyone gets a chance to check it out. The exhibit is at the Field Museum from May 13 to November 13, 2011. There is also a photo exhibit at Millennium Park from April 15 to November 13 in case you can’t get to the museum. I know I’m shamelessly plugging away, but I just think this exhibit is so cool, and to top it off, it is located in a new wing of the museum that is dedicated to the conservation of nature. I would say that’s a success for TNC!
