Couples Retreat

I don’t care what the critics say; I thought this movie was great. I mean, it’s not a deep, life-changing kind of film, but then again, it’s not supposed to be.

Honestly, I walked into the theater not expecting anything spectacular. Usually, comedies show all the funny scenes during the trailers, and the rest of the movie ends up being boring, but there were actually a lot of scenes in the movie that weren’t in any of the commercials. Surprisingly, I think I was smiling or laughing during the entire movie. And since I’m feeling pretty generous right now, I’ll give the film a five out of five.

I loved all of the actors and actresses in the movie, and I think they all did a fantastic job with their roles. A few of them play characters that are very different from what they’re known for. For example, Kristin Davis, who’s famous for her role as the sweet and innocent Charlotte from Sex in the City, is a bitter ex-cheerleader who checks out every man she sees. But my favorite character in the movie has got to be the little boy played by Colin Baiocchi. He was freaking adorable. I seriously have not seen a cuter kid in my life, and he probably had the funniest scenes in the whole movie.

All in all, the movie is pretty ridiculous, but it’s entertaining and hilariously inappropriate. Basically, it’s my kind of movie.

tempting, but i (regretfully) trust spill.com and rotten tomatoes more than grace chen when it comes to cinematic critique :( but you know, maybe i’ll see it, who knows, maybe i’ll think differently.
