The Time Traveler’s Wife

Rating: ★★★½☆

This movie is a true chick flick. I haven’t seen a real love story like this in a while, so if you’re not into that kind of thing, this movie probably isn’t for you. Even for those who love chick flicks, I don’t know if I would really recommend this movie. Maybe it’s my fault for having such high expectations for the film, but I found The Time Traveler’s Wife to be somewhat disappointing.

While I love Rachel McAdams, the character she played was far from exciting. I did not fall in love with the couple in the movie. In fact, I found them rather boring. Less than an hour into the movie, I was ready for the end.

Overall I think the makers of the film had the right idea, but the movie was just poorly executed. The story could have been told better had the writers decided to change up some of the sequence of events. I guess it comes with all time travel movies, but the order of the movie was jumbled and confusing.

The movie did succeed in one category though: making people cry. More than once, I felt an awkward tension as the audience struggled to fight back tears.

Perhaps the blame is to be put on the author of this book instead. Either way, the film, in my opinion, was only mediocre.
